Since we’re on the topic of recalls, I thought I’d mention that there is a mass recall of Wolfgang Puck’s self-heating lattes. Have you seen these things? I remember passing a stack of them in the cereal aisle at my local King Soopers. I picked one up, hefted it, and thought… Why in the world would anyone buy [...]

Add to myYahoo!Having a mint julep while watching the Kentucky Derby is a long standing tradition. And having one won't ruin your diet.
Depending on the source, a mint julep is estimated to have between 150 and 220 calories per glass. The size of the glass and the amount of sugar used will obviously determine the actual amount of calories.
Here's a recipe for making the drink (thanks to the Kentucky Derby and Early Times).
Make a simple syrup by boiling sugar and water together for five minutes. Cool and place in a covered container with six or eight sprigs of fresh mint, then refrigerate overnight. Make one julep at a time by filling a julep cup with crushed ice, adding one tablespoon mint syrup and two ounces of Early Times Kentucky Whisky. Stir rapidly with a spoon to frost the outside of the cup. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.

NutraSweet - is it safe? Dr Iona Pratt, the head of the working group that reviewed the study, acknowledged the serious nature of the Institute's work but explained that the tumors the...
