Eating Low Calorie at Panera Bread

We recently updated our Low Calorie Fast Food page to include Panera Bread. Unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed at the calorie count when we went through the nutrition guide at Panera Bread, because we really like the restaurant. Many of the sandwiches will not do a dieter any favors.

There are two sandwiches, however, that would work for dieters. The Smoked Turkey Breast has just 380 calories if you ask for the Lower-Carb Italian bread. The Mediterranean Veggie works if you ask for no cheese and request either the Lower-Carb Italian Bread or the Pumpkin Seed Loaf (which is our favorite). Just be sure to ask for fruit instead of chips. For those who really want chips, Panera Bread does carry baked Lays - you just have to ask.

The Fandango salad is listed at 390 with cheese. We advise saying no to the cheese and yes to the fat-free raspberry dressing.

A pleasant surprise came from the breakfast menu. The Banana Nut Muffin has just 230 calories and 11 grams of fat. Add a cup of coffee or a small orange juice and you're still within the 300-calorie range for breakfast - which is really good for eating out.

Finally, we also mention the fruit cup. Full of vitamins and just 70 calories.
